Vysiion Continues Support For Galloper Wind Farm Project24th April 2017
In 2016 Vysiion were awarded a contract by Alstom Grid (Grid Solutions UK) to support the Galloper Wind Farm project, which is a 336MW offshore project currently being constructed off the coast of Suffolk.
Once fully operational, scheduled for 2018, it will generate enough power for up to 336,000 homes. Development and construction is being led by Innogy SE on behalf of the other project partners, including UK Green Investment Bank, Macquarie Capital and Siemens Financial Services.
Vysiion were tasked to carry out design, installation (e.g. panels, termination boxes), cabling, termination, connection and testing of the fibre and CAT6A cabling infrastructure at the Leiston Onshore (near Sizewell) substation as well as the Offshore Platform (Hartlepool, dockside).
Initial high level design was produced in early 2016 followed by detailed design, including connectivity drawings and cable schedules, later that year.
Actual site works for the offshore platform programme in Hartlepool commenced in February 2017 with completion, including snagging and testing, by early April 2017. The Hartlepool team, led by Patrick McGinness, completed over 2000m of cable runs, involving 43 cables and 14 kopex runs into the tight decking space and into the necessary Control Room transit points.
Completion and testing was completed on time and to specification which supported the delivery timescales required by Alstom. As Michael Grimshaw commented: “The work by Pat and the team has been exceptional and reflects well on Vysiion’s acknowledged ability to delivery high quality infrastructure and communication support in the energy sector.”
The Leiston Substation Programme site works began in mid-March 2017 and also has a completion date scheduled for April 2017.
Galloper joins a long list of energy and wind sector projects Vysiion has undertaken and delivered over the past 18 months building upon its heritage in the communications and infrastructure environment.
